Hey'all!
I'm new here, so I'm probably in the wrong place but I though I'd give it a ago! Here's my introduction,
My name is Anna, I'm 21 and joining Notts from Sept for a post-graduate course in Psychology. I've finished my degree in Psychosocial Sciences at UEA (Norwich) and am muchly looking forward to exploring the Northen territory! Don't blame me, I'm from Kent, so anything above the Watford gap is North to me.
I'm going to be sharing a house which is just around the corner from the University with 4 other people, one of which I know. So I'm well and truly a tourist to Nottingham until I get some bearings. Found this forum and I think it's a great way to have contact. I'm a bit nervous that at the moment I don't really know anyone, and not living in halls which might mean I don't get a lot of social contact. So, you'll definitely be hearing more from me! I'd be great to hear from some of the other people on here, find out what you guys from the PGSA get up to! |

Hey Anna,
Like you I've stumbled across this forum too. Am 23, starting a PhD in Physics Department in September. Only got final offer few weeks ago, so all been quite frantic.
Did undergraduate degree at Durham, and live in Windsor, so for me Nottingham is the middle between the two!
Can't see myself living in halls either, so will be on the hunt to meet new people, once I find somewhere to live. See you in a few weeks.

Hallo,
My name is Maria. I'm from Greece, I'll come also to Nottingham for a postgradute programme in Psychology and I'll stay in campus. I've just come across this site and decided to post any thing as I know little about Nottingham besides my programme and besides the fact that it will be cold for me at least! |

Hello! and welcome to the new amongst you, I'm Lydia, the current social secretary and taking care of the website and this forum at the moment.
Not living in halls as a first year postgrad isn't really a barrier to meeting people as far as I've heard from friends (I myself am in halls at the moment), especially as in the first month or so you'll meet so many people at the PGSA socials and elsewhere. If you're interested in these, make a note of the september events on the PGSA website (www.pgsa.org.uk), scroll down on the main page (or go to the "socials" tab) till you see the september week one events. They're always packed and lots of fun. It might be worth noting (probably more so if you're going into halls than private accommodation) that you might not have internet access over the first few days, so jot down any dates in your diary!
Also, if anyone's coming up to Notts (/down?) in August and is still looking for accommodation, check out the PGSA accommodation day on Friday 31st August, where people will be looking for houses, people with spare rooms will be looking for housemates.
Anyway, enough from me for now,

Hi everyone. My name is Kelly.
I've just stumbled across this forum and thought it might be a good idea to sign up. Im 22 and about to start a Masters degree in Assisted Reproduction Technology (its basically all about IVF and assisted conception etc). I did my undergrad at University College London (UCL) in Developmental Biology and Embryology. Im originally from Kent like Anna above (Hi Anna!) and share her view about anything above Watford Gap being North, Lol! Sorry! So Im feeling very new to Nottingham.
My course hasnt started yet and 2 of the 3 girls im sharing a house with havent moved in yet, so Im a bit of a lonely tourist right now.
If anyone wants to meet up or something, then get in touch. This week Im just mooching around my area and trying to see whats about so would appreciate getting to know some people. Id love to get involved with the PGSA and maybe help out with things somehow!

Hey Kelly, it's great that you want to get involved with the PGSA, we need people like you! Keep an eye on the website, I'll be updating it this week with details of the forthcoming elections (they're within the next month or so) and the positions open!
